What The Job Is:

First Choice Ballymena are recruiting for Band 2 Catering Assistants for their Client based in the Magherafelt area.  These are temporary positions paying £9.21 per hour Monday to Friday, £12.98 per hour on a Saturday and £16.85 per hour on a Sunday.  The ideal candidates must be flexible as to the amount of hours per week they can work and be able to work on a rotational shift basis to include mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends.  The hours of work per week may range from 20 to 37.5.

 

Who The Job Is For:

The Client we are recruiting on behalf of is a Hospital environment in the Magherafelt area.  The successful candidates will assist the cook in an effective manner to provide meals and snacks for patients, to maintain the kitchen, dining room and stores to a high level of cleanliness and adhere to all policies and procedures.

 

What The Job Entails:

  • General cleaning duties in the kitchen, dining room and associated areas including vending machines
  • Assist with food service and plate food
  • Replenish food supplies as necessary
  • Assist in the preparation of vegetables, fruits, salads and beverages in accordance with departmental food safety procedures
  • Ensure the correct food safety procedures are followed
  • Ensure a high standard of personal hygiene and hygienic catering practices are maintained at all times
  • Removal of waste from allocated areas
  • Observe safe working methods in relation to equipment, cleaning materials and report defective items as necessary
  • Adhere to all safety regulations appropriate to the area of work
  • Undertaking any training courses including in-house and off the job training as deemed necessary to the post
  • Carry out cash handling duties
  • Report defective equipment/utensils/work and floor surfaces etc to the appropriate line manager
  • Work in accordance with duty rotas and work schedules
  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade, as assigned from time to time, to ensure the smooth running of the Department

 

What We Need From You:

  • Ability to work shifts: Mornings, Afternoons, Evenings and Weekends (as applicable).
  • Will be required to work in various locations and Departments
  • Willingness to complete Level 2 CIEH Food & Safety Certificate
  • Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and follow written instructions
  • Basic numeracy & literacy skills
  • Ability to use own initiative
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member
  • Ability to cope with difficult situations in a calm and professional manner as part of a team in a patient/user focused environment
  • Understanding of the importance of confidentiality in the work place
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety

 

What We Would Like From You:

  • Level 2 CIEH qualification in Food Safety or equivalent is desirable.

The Nitty Gritty:

  • Hours of work are rotational: Morning, Afternoon, Evening & Weekends – 8.30am-4pm, 10am-3pm, 9am-2.30pm & 4pm-7pm
  • 20 hours per week (may be required to work up to 37.5 hours per week)
