Job Title:

Laboratory Healthcare Assistant – Antrim area

What The Job Is:

 We have an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Healthcare Assistant to join our team in Ballymena. This role is due to start on immediately, pending all relevant checks. The role is based in Antrim and will be 37.5hrs per week paying £8.90 – £15.49 per hour (depending on shift worked) The main purpose of the role is to work as a Laboratory support worker and undertake a variety of procedures as instructed.

What The Job Entails:

This is a diverse role and will include a number of key areas including:

  • Accurately unpack sort and number samples and request forms prior to analysis and to act as a member of a team
  • Follow standard operating procedures to deal with urgent, incorrectly labelled, or other problem samples with reference to appropriate protocol
  • Keep records such as error rates, telephone message logs and queries.
  • Relay recorded telephone messages in a timely manner, as appropriate
  • Record the receipt of requests onto appropriate laboratory computer system
  • Perform routine tests under supervision of staff
  • Enter results onto appropriate computer system

Essential Criteria

  • 5 GCSEs or equivalent at grades A –C MUST include Maths AND English

    What We Need From You:

    • 5 GCSEs or equivalent at grades A –C
    • Hold a current full driving licence
    • A capability to complete paperwork and update notes accordingly
    • Knowledge of basic clinical terms
    • To have or be willing to attend all mandatory training courses
    • Be registered with NISCC or be willing to register

    • Experience in a similar role in a similar setting
    • Health and Social Care Qualification

    The Nitty Gritty:

    • Hours of work are Monday – Friday 9am-5pm,12pm-7pm, 2pm-10pm OR 4pm-midnight (depending on requirement)
    • 30 minute Lunch Break
    • 24 Hour on call service that can be accessed for emergencies
    • Closing date of advertisement is 25.01.19 @ 5pm
    • Start Date for role is immediate pending all reference and security checks
