Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist

Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist required on behalf of a busy hospital setting based in the Antrim Area. The main purpose of this role is to work within a team of highly specialist speech and language therapists providing a service to children, including neonates and infants with complex special needs that impact on their communication, eating, drinking, and swallowing development. Hours of work are Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm with an hourly pay rate of £20.49 – £32.78 depending on shift worked. Applicants must be HCPC Registered.

What The Job Entails:

This is a diverse role and will include a number of key areas such as:

• Specialist assessment, diagnosis and management of neonates, infants and children with a broad range of feeding and swallowing disorders
• Providing specialist advice and treatment of the full range of communication disorders for this client group
• Offering assessment and treatment to children presenting with eating and drinking problems
• Responsibility for planning and management of caseloads and delegating tasks to Speech and Language Assistants
• Demonstrating systems such as Makaton signs and symbols for children who have severe learning disabilities
• Participating in Multi-Disciplinary teams as appropriate
• Liaising closely with education staff within schools to agree and review Speech and Language targets

What We Need From You:

• 4 years post graduate experience as a speech and language therapist with children
• 3 years’ experience with children with severe learning disabilities
• Evidence of providing training to parents and carers
• Evidence of specialist training in Dysphagia management
• Post graduate training relevant to client group to include: Makaton
• Degree/ Diploma in Speech and Language Therapy
• RCSLT and HCPC Registration
