Band 6 Podiatrist

 

What The Job Is:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Podiatrist to join our team in the Belfast Branch. We provide staff to several of the departments within the Belfast and greater Belfast areas.  This is an immediate start, once all legal checks are completed.

Hours of work are 37.5 hours per week and you may be required to work some weekends, early evenings and bank holiday shifts on rotation for the convenience of patients.

 

As a core member of the care team, you will be expected to work both individually and within the team to provide the highest standards of care to all service users within the unit.

What The Job Entails:

This is a diverse role and will include a number of key areas including:

 

ü  Assess, diagnose, treat and evaluate abnormalities and diseases related to the foot and lower limb in people of all ages

ü  Provide treatment for high-risk patient groups such as the elderly and those with increased risk of amputation

ü  Give advice and make referrals to other healthcare and social services professionals as appropriate

ü  Use therapeutic and surgical techniques to treat foot and lower leg issues (eg. Carrying out nail and soft tissue surgery using local anaesthetic)

ü  Prescribe, produce and fit orthotics and other aids and appliances

ü  Deliver foot health education

ü  Understand the mechanics of the body in order to preserve, restore and develop movement

ü  Work with people in sports to address sports-related injuries to legs and feet

ü  Be able to use a range of equipment including surgical instruments, dressings, treatment tables, orthodic materials, lasers, grinders, shaping equipment, x-ray and video gait-analysis equipment

 

What We Need From You:

ü  Must possess an approved degree in Podiatry

ü  Current HCPC registration

 

What We Would Like From You:

ü  An understanding and knowledge of science, particularly biology, anatomy and chemistry

ü  Excellent communication skills, both verbal and in writing, including the ability to explain terminology and treatment in easy to understand language

ü  Practical skills, including manual dexterity to carry out treatment

 

 

What We Will Offer You:

ü  £14.20 –  £22.72 Per Hour (with yearly increments)

ü  A minimum of 28 days paid holiday’s (pro rata)

The Nitty Gritty:

ü  Hours of work are 37.5 hours per week. May be required to work some weekends, early evenings and bank holidays on a rotation

ü  Breaks given on shift

ü  24 Hour on call service that can be accessed for emergencies

ü  Closing date of advertisement 10th June @ 5pm

ü  Start Date for role is asap once legal checks are completed
