First Choice has been awarded as a main supplier to the Hospital Trusts throughout Northern Ireland.  As part of this exciting contract we are now recruiting three full time Social Workers in the Lurgan and Brownlow area.

Salary = £13.45 per hour (Band 6) / £11.21 per hour (Band 5)

Hours = 37.5 hours (Mon – Fri)

Job Description

The person appointed will be expected to work as a member of the Family Intervention Team in either fieldwork or a residential setting providing a range of services to children and their families. The Family Intervention Team will engage with parents/children and young people to address their assessed needs to strengthen family functioning and promote improved outcomes for children in terms of their health and well-being both physically and emotionally, their educational attainments and engagement within their communities.

Job Duties

  • Conducting Interviews with Individuals and families to assess and review their situation.
  • Undertaking and writing up assessments which meet specified standards and timescales.
  • Offering information and support.
  • Organizing and managing packages of support to enable people to lead the fullest lives possible.
  • Recommending and sometimes making decisions about the best course of action for a particular person or family.
  • Liaising with, and making referrals to, other agencies.
  • Participating in multidisciplinary teams and meetings
  • Maintaining accurate records and preparing reports for legal action.
  • Essential Criteria

  • Hold recognized Professional Social work qualification (CQSW/ Dip SW/ CSS)
  • Hold appropriate NISCC registration.
  • Minimum of six months recent experience in a paid capacity
  • Hold a current driving license valid for use in the UK and have on appointment access to a care.

  • Effective communication skills to meet the needs of the post in full.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary context as well as independently.
  • Effective planning, organisational and assessment skills with an ability to prioritize own workload.
  • Have an excellent understanding of legislation supporting the role of the social worker.
